advanced patterns with `<details>` element not retaining open state after page refresh
I keep running into After trying multiple solutions online, I still can't figure this out. I'm relatively new to this, so bear with me. I'm working with an scenario with the `<details>` element in HTML where it doesn't retain its open state after a page refresh. I'm using this in conjunction with a small JavaScript function to toggle additional information, and I expect it to remain open based on the user's last interaction. I've set up the `<details>` in the following way: ```html <details id="info"> <summary>Click to expand</summary> <p>This is additional information.</p> </details> ``` Then, I have a script that checks if the details are open and saves this state in localStorage: ```javascript const details = document.getElementById('info'); // Load the saved state from localStorage const isOpen = localStorage.getItem('detailsOpen'); if (isOpen === 'true') { details.open = true; } // Add an event listener to save the state when toggled details.addEventListener('toggle', () => { localStorage.setItem('detailsOpen', details.open); }); ``` The question arises when I refresh the page; the `<details>` element remains closed even though localStorage shows that its state is saved as 'true'. Iβve checked through the console, and it seems like the event listener is functioning correctly, but the open state isnβt reflecting on the UI. Iβm using Chrome Version 116.0.5845.97 on Windows. Have I missed something in the implementation, or is there a known scenario with the `<details>` element? I've tried clearing localStorage and re-testing, but the behavior remains unchanged. Any insights or suggestions on how to resolve this would be appreciated! What's the best practice here? For context: I'm using Javascript on Ubuntu. I'd really appreciate any guidance on this. I recently upgraded to Javascript 3.10.
