AWS ECS Service Discovery Not Resolving DNS Names in Private VPC
I'm working through a tutorial and Can someone help me understand I've searched everywhere and can't find a clear answer. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here, but I'm experiencing an scenario with AWS ECS where my service discovery is not resolving DNS names properly. I have an ECS service running in a private VPC with the following configuration: I'm using AWS Fargate to launch my tasks with a service discovery namespace configured in Route 53. Although the service starts correctly, when I try to access it using the DNS name `{service-name}.{namespace}.local`, it returns a `SERVFAIL` behavior. I've verified that the networking settings are correct, and my VPC has the necessary DNS settings enabled. Namespace: `my-namespace.local` 2. Service: `my-service` 3. Health check configuration is set to TCP on port 80. I’ve tried: - Checking the security group rules to ensure that the subnet allows DNS traffic. - Verifying that the ECS service is registered correctly in the service discovery namespace. - Manually querying the DNS from within the Fargate task using `dig` and `nslookup`, but both commands return `SERVFAIL`. Does anyone know why the DNS resolution might be failing in this setup? Any guidance on debugging the DNS issues with AWS service discovery would be appreciated! How would you solve this?
