Excel VBA: How to Handle 'Subscript Out of Range' scenarios When Referencing Named Ranges?
I've searched everywhere and can't find a clear answer. I'm integrating two systems and I tried several approaches but none seem to work... I'm working on a personal project and I'm working on a personal project and I am working on an Excel VBA script that processes data from a range of named ranges in a workbook. However, I keep working with a 'Subscript out of range' behavior when I try to access these named ranges. The behavior occurs at this line of my code: ```vba Dim dataRange As Range Set dataRange = ThisWorkbook.Names("MyNamedRange").RefersToRange ``` I've verified that 'MyNamedRange' exists in the workbook and should reference a valid range. Iβve also checked the spelling and capitalization, but the behavior continues. To troubleshoot, I created a simple loop to list all named ranges using: ```vba Dim n As Name For Each n In ThisWorkbook.Names Debug.Print n.Name Next n ``` This confirmed that 'MyNamedRange' does appear in the output. Another thing I noticed is that the workbook is sometimes opened as read-only and it seems to cause confusion with named ranges. Iβm also aware of using `Range` directly instead of referencing named ranges, but I prefer using named ranges for clarity. Has anyone faced a similar scenario? Is there a way to safely reference named ranges while ensuring I donβt hit this behavior? Any insights on best practices for working with named ranges in VBA would be greatly appreciated. This is part of a larger web app I'm building. For context: I'm using Vba on macOS. I've been using Vba for about a year now. What's the best practice here? The project is a microservice built with Vba. Hoping someone can shed some light on this.
