C# 10 - implementing Binding DataGridView to a Dynamic Data Source in WinForms
I'm trying to debug I'm deploying to production and I'm stuck on something that should probably be simple. I'm currently working with a scenario when trying to bind a `DataGridView` to a dynamic data source in a WinForms application. The data source is a list of objects that I fetch from a web API, and I need to update the `DataGridView` whenever the data changes. I am using .NET 6 and the following code to set up the `DataGridView`: ```csharp public partial class MainForm : Form { private BindingSource bindingSource = new BindingSource(); public MainForm() { InitializeComponent(); dataGridView1.AutoGenerateColumns = true; LoadData(); } private async void LoadData() { var data = await FetchDataFromApi(); bindingSource.DataSource = data; dataGridView1.DataSource = bindingSource; } private async Task<List<MyDataModel>> FetchDataFromApi() { using var client = new HttpClient(); var response = await client.GetStringAsync("https://api.example.com/data"); return JsonSerializer.Deserialize<List<MyDataModel>>(response); } } ``` The question I'm working with is that after the initial load, if I update the data source (e.g., by calling `LoadData()` again), the `DataGridView` does not refresh or show the new data unless I manually call `bindingSource.ResetBindings(false);`. However, even after calling that method, sometimes the UI does not reflect the changes properly, especially if there are rapid updates coming from the API. Sometimes I see the behavior message: `InvalidOperationException: DataGridView failed to bind to the data source.` I have tried implementing `INotifyPropertyChanged` in my data model, but it still doesn't seem to work as expected when the list itself gets updated. What are the best practices for binding a `DataGridView` to a dynamic data source in WinForms, especially in scenarios where the data may be updated frequently? Any advice on how to handle these updates more effectively would be greatly appreciated. This is happening in both development and production on Windows 11. Am I approaching this the right way? For context: I'm using C# on Windows 11. I recently upgraded to C# stable. What's the correct way to implement this? Am I approaching this the right way?
