Node.js Express Server Not Handling Large File Uploads - 'Payload Too Large' scenarios
After trying multiple solutions online, I still can't figure this out... I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here, but I’m currently working on a Node.js application using Express and Multer for handling file uploads... The application is supposed to accept image files, but when I try to upload files larger than 1MB, I get the following behavior: `Payload Too Large`. I’ve set up Multer with some basic configurations, but I’m unsure how to handle larger files while still maintaining some limits on the total size. Here’s a simplified version of my setup: ```javascript const express = require('express'); const multer = require('multer'); const app = express(); const PORT = 3000; const storage = multer.memoryStorage(); const upload = multer({ storage: storage, limits: { fileSize: 1048576 } }); // 1MB limit app.post('/upload', upload.single('image'), (req, res) => { if (!req.file) { return res.status(400).send('No file uploaded'); } // Process the file here (e.g., save to database) res.send('File uploaded successfully'); }); app.listen(PORT, () => { console.log(`Server is running on port ${PORT}`); }); ``` I’ve tried increasing the `fileSize` limit in the Multer configuration to accommodate up to 10MB, but it doesn’t seem to resolve the scenario. Additionally, I’ve also checked the body parser configurations in case they are conflicting, but it appears to be specifically related to Multer. When the file size exceeds the limit, I want to handle it gracefully rather than just returning a `Payload Too Large` behavior. Is there a way to provide a more user-friendly response or to adjust the server settings to allow larger uploads? Any suggestions or best practices would be greatly appreciated! My development environment is macOS. What's the best practice here? I've been using Javascript for about a year now. Thanks for your help in advance!
