HTML5 Video Element Not Displaying Controls in Safari 16.1 on iPhone
I'm building a feature where I'm following best practices but I'm having trouble with the HTML5 video element not displaying the controls on Safari 16.1 running on an iPhone. I have the video set up like this: ```html <video id="myVideo" width="320" height="240" controls> <source src="movie.mp4" type="video/mp4"> Your browser does not support the video tag. </video> ``` Even with the `controls` attribute present, the video appears without any play/pause buttons. I've tried forcing styles in CSS to ensure it's not a visual scenario: ```css video { display: block; width: 100%; height: auto; } ``` However, the controls still do not show up. I checked the console for any behavior messages but didn't find anything relevant. I’m also aware that some features might not work depending on the mobile Safari settings, but I’ve made sure to allow media playback in the settings. Additionally, I tested the same code on Chrome for iOS and the controls displayed without scenario. Could this be a bug with Safari, or is there a specific setting or attribute I might be missing? Any insights would be greatly appreciated! My development environment is Ubuntu. I'm coming from a different tech stack and learning Html. Any ideas how to fix this? I'm developing on CentOS with Html. Is there a better approach?
