Visual Studio 2022 - Build scenarios with 'The project file could not be loaded' scenarios on .NET 6 Multi-Project Solution
I tried several approaches but none seem to work. I'm working with a frustrating scenario with my .NET 6 multi-project solution in Visual Studio 2022. When I try to build the solution, I get the following behavior: `The project file could not be loaded. Root element is missing.` This happens even though the project files appear to be intact. I've checked the .csproj files for each project, and they all seem to follow the correct format, like this: ```xml <Project Sdk="Microsoft.NET.Sdk"> <PropertyGroup> <OutputType>Exe</OutputType> <TargetFramework>net6.0</TargetFramework> </PropertyGroup> </Project> ``` I've also ensured that the solution is targeting .NET 6, and I have the latest update for Visual Studio 2022 (Version 17.3.0). I tried cleaning and rebuilding the solution multiple times, but the behavior continues. After some investigation, I found that the scenario might be related to the project dependencies or the way the solution is structured. I have one main project and two class library projects that it references. I verified the references in the main project and they look fine. I even deleted and re-added the references, but still no luck. Interestingly, I can open and build the individual projects without any issues, but when I try to build the entire solution, it fails. Additionally, I noticed that when I attempt to open the offending project in Visual Studio, it sometimes hangs and I have to restart the IDE. Is there something specific I might be missing in the project configurations or a common pitfall with multi-project solutions in .NET 6? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! For context: I'm using C# on Windows. I'd really appreciate any guidance on this.
