Ubuntu 22.04 - implementing Docker Container how to to Access Host Network Interfaces
I'm reviewing some code and Hey everyone, I'm running into an issue that's driving me crazy. I'm running Ubuntu 22.04 and I've set up a Docker container to run a web application. However, I'm working with an scenario where the container want to access the host's network interfaces. The application needs to communicate with a service running on the host, but it fails with a connection timeout. I've confirmed that the service is running on the host and is listening on the correct port (8080). I tried to use the `--network host` option while running the container, but that didn't seem to resolve the scenario. Hereβs the command I used to run the container: ```bash docker run --rm -it --network host my-web-app ``` Within the container, I tried to ping the host, but it fails with: ```bash ping: unknown host my-host ``` Additionally, if I run a network diagnostics tool like `curl` or `telnet` to the host's IP and port, I get a connection refused behavior: ```bash curl http://my-host:8080 ``` I also checked the firewall rules using `ufw status`, and it shows that port 8080 is allowed. To troubleshoot further, I attempted to connect to 127.0.0.1 from inside the container, but I still encounter timeouts. Is there a specific configuration I need to adjust in Docker or on the host to allow access to host network interfaces, or am I missing something in my setup? For context: I'm using Bash on Windows. What's the best practice here? This is happening in both development and production on Debian.
