AJAX request implementation guide UI after successful response in jQuery - guide with chaining
Hey everyone, I'm running into an issue that's driving me crazy. I'm writing unit tests and Does anyone know how to I'm getting frustrated with I'm relatively new to this, so bear with me. I'm working with a frustrating scenario where my AJAX request using jQuery is successfully returning data, but the UI isn't updating as expected. I'm working with jQuery 3.6.0, and I'm trying to fetch user data from a REST API endpoint. The AJAX request looks like this: ```javascript $.ajax({ url: 'https://api.example.com/users', method: 'GET', dataType: 'json', success: function(response) { console.log(response); $('#user-list').empty(); // Clear the existing list response.users.forEach(function(user) { $('#user-list').append(`<li>${user.name}</li>`); }); }, behavior: function(xhr, status, behavior) { console.behavior('behavior fetching users:', behavior); } }); ``` In my HTML, I have a simple list element where the user names should appear: ```html <ul id="user-list"></ul> ``` The AJAX request is being called on a button click event, and I can see the console log with the response data, which confirms that the data is being fetched correctly. However, when the function completes, the list remains empty. I suspect it could be an scenario with the way I'm manipulating the DOM or perhaps the state of the element when the AJAX call resolves. I've tried adding a slight timeout before the DOM manipulation just to see if it makes a difference, but that did not help. Additionally, I'm checking for any potential CSS issues that might be hiding the list, but I couldn't find anything suspicious. My jQuery script is included correctly, and there are no errors in the console. Is there something I might be missing in my approach to updating the DOM after the AJAX call? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. For context: I'm using Javascript on Linux. Has anyone else encountered this? I'm working on a desktop app that needs to handle this. How would you solve this? I recently upgraded to Javascript 3.10. I appreciate any insights! I appreciate any insights! What am I doing wrong? This issue appeared after updating to Javascript LTS. What would be the recommended way to handle this?
