HTML Table Not Rendering Correctly in Edge - Display Issues on Nested Elements
I'm migrating some code and I'm experimenting with I've spent hours debugging this and I'm experimenting with I'm experiencing an issue with an HTML table that contains nested elements, specifically when viewed in Microsoft Edge. The table is supposed to display user information and includes some nested elements like `<div>` and `<span>`. In Chrome and Firefox, it renders perfectly, but in Edge, the nested elements are causing the table to misalign and overflow its container. I've tried adding `table-layout: fixed;` to the CSS, which helped a bit, but the issue persists with certain columns. Here's the relevant code snippet: ```html <table style="width: 100%; table-layout: fixed;"> <thead> <tr> <th>User ID</th> <th>Name</th> <th>Status</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td><div style="white-space: nowrap;">12345</div></td> <td><span style="color: blue;">John Doe</span></td> <td><div style="background-color: green; color: white; padding: 5px;">Active</div></td> </tr> <tr> <td><div style="white-space: nowrap;">12346</div></td> <td><span style="color: blue;">Jane Smith</span></td> <td><div style="background-color: red; color: white; padding: 5px;">Inactive</div></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> ``` When I inspect the table in Edge's developer tools, I notice that the widths of the columns seem to be calculated incorrectly, which leads to some text being clipped or improperly wrapped. I've also attempted to set specific widths on the `<th>` elements, but that only made the situation worse. Is there a known issue with Edge and how it handles nested elements in tables, and what are some possible solutions to ensure consistent rendering across all browsers? Thanks for your help! My development environment is Ubuntu. Thanks in advance! For reference, this is a production desktop app. Am I missing something obvious? Any examples would be super helpful. This issue appeared after updating to Html 3.10. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
