scenarios to Establish SSH Connection with 'Connection Refused' scenarios on Ubuntu 22.04 Server

ssh ubuntu networking bash

I've been working on this all day and I've been struggling with this for a few days now and could really use some help... I'm trying to set up an SSH connection to my Ubuntu 22.04 server, but I'm getting a 'Connection refused' behavior. I have verified that the SSH service is installed and running using `systemctl status ssh`. The output shows that it is active, but I still need to connect: ``` ● ssh.service - OpenBSD Secure Shell server Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/ssh.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: active (running) since Fri 2023-10-20 12:00:00 UTC; 1h 30min ago ``` I have also checked my firewall settings with `ufw status`, and it indicates that SSH (port 22) is allowed: ``` Status: active To Action From -- ------ ---- 22 ALLOW Anywhere ``` I have tried connecting using both my local machine and another server on the same network, but the result is the same. I also verified that there are no typos in the SSH command itself: ``` ssh user@your-server-ip ``` Additionally, I checked the `/etc/ssh/sshd_config` file for any misconfigurations. The relevant lines appear to be standard: ``` Port 22 PermitRootLogin no PubkeyAuthentication yes ``` I restarted the SSH service after making any changes, but the scenario continues. Another thing I noticed is that the server's IP address seems to be correct and reachable via `ping`. I suspect there might be a deeper scenario at play. Any ideas on what could be causing this 'Connection refused' behavior? This is part of a larger web app I'm building. How would you solve this? I'm coming from a different tech stack and learning Bash. What's the correct way to implement this? This issue appeared after updating to Bash 3.11. Thanks for any help you can provide!
