Visual Studio 2022 - Getting 'The operation has timed out' scenarios When Running EF Core Migrations
I'm relatively new to this, so bear with me... I'm working on a personal project and Quick question that's been bugging me - I'm experiencing an scenario while trying to run Entity Framework Core migrations in my ASP.NET Core 7 application. When executing the `Update-Database` command in the Package Manager Console, I consistently get the following behavior: `The operation has timed out.` This usually happens when the migrations involve a large amount of data or complex schema changes. To troubleshoot, I've tried increasing the command timeout in the `DbContext` configuration like this: ```csharp public class MyDbContext : DbContext { protected override void OnConfiguring(DbContextOptionsBuilder optionsBuilder) { optionsBuilder.UseSqlServer("YourConnectionStringHere", options => options.CommandTimeout(180)); // Increased timeout } } ``` Despite this, the behavior continues. I've also checked the connection string, and it's correct, and I can run simple queries without issues. On a hunch, I tried simplifying my migration to remove certain columns and relationships, and it still times out. I also attempted running it directly via SQL Server Management Studio, and it executed successfully there. I'm running Visual Studio 2022 and have the latest .NET 7 SDK installed. My database is hosted on Azure SQL. Are there any other settings or approaches I should try to resolve this timeout scenario? Could it be related to network latency or something specific to how EF Core interacts with Azure SQL? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. For context: I'm using Csharp on Windows. How would you solve this? This is part of a larger REST API I'm building. Thanks, I really appreciate it!
