Trouble with UnicodeEncodeError when writing to CSV in Python 2.7 using csv module
This might be a silly question, but I'm working with a `UnicodeEncodeError` when trying to write a list of dictionaries to a CSV file using Python 2.7. The data contains non-ASCII characters, and while trying to write the data, I get the following behavior: ``` UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec need to encode character u'\xe9' in position 15: ordinal not in range(128) ``` Here's a simplified version of my code: ```python import csv data = [ { 'name': u'Jรฉrรดme', 'age': 34 }, { 'name': u'รmer', 'age': 28 }, ] with open('output.csv', 'wb') as csvfile: fieldnames = ['name', 'age'] writer = csv.DictWriter(csvfile, fieldnames=fieldnames) writer.writeheader() for row in data: writer.writerow(row) ``` I've tried opening the file with different modes like `wb` and `w`, but it seems that writing non-ASCII characters directly leads to this behavior. I've also experimented with using the `codecs` module to open the file, like this: ```python import codecs with codecs.open('output.csv', 'wb', encoding='utf-8') as csvfile: writer = csv.DictWriter(csvfile, fieldnames=fieldnames) writer.writeheader() for row in data: writer.writerow(row) ``` However, that approach still raises the same `UnicodeEncodeError`. Is there a proper way to handle writing non-ASCII characters to a CSV file in Python 2.7? Are there any best practices I should be aware of to avoid this scenario? I'm working in a Windows 11 environment. Any pointers in the right direction? Thanks for any help you can provide!
