Issue with Django model save method not triggering post_save signal on bulk_create

django signals bulk-create Python

I'm working through a tutorial and I'm deploying to production and I'm stuck on something that should probably be simple. I'm currently facing a challenge with Django where I need to bulk create instances of a model, but the `post_save` signal is not being triggered for these instances. I'm using Django 4.1 and the model looks something like this: ```python from django.db import models class MyModel(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=100) value = models.IntegerField() def save(self, *args, **kwargs): print('Saving instance:', self.name) super().save(*args, **kwargs) ``` I have the following code to bulk create instances: ```python from myapp.models import MyModel objects_to_create = [MyModel(name='Object 1', value=1), MyModel(name='Object 2', value=2)] MyModel.objects.bulk_create(objects_to_create) ``` I expected that when `bulk_create` is called, the `post_save` signal would be triggered for each instance, but it seems like this is not the case. I've double-checked my signal connection: ```python from django.db.models.signals import post_save from django.dispatch import receiver @receiver(post_save, sender=MyModel) def my_handler(sender, instance, created, **kwargs): print('Post save signal triggered for:', instance.name) ``` I've confirmed that the signal is connected correctly because when I save individual instances using `instance.save()`, the signal does get triggered. However, with `bulk_create`, it seems that the `save` method is entirely skipped along with the signals. Is there any way to work around this limitation or an alternative approach to achieve a similar result using bulk operations? Any insights would be greatly appreciated! What am I doing wrong? I'm working on a service that needs to handle this. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. I'm working on a CLI tool that needs to handle this. For reference, this is a production microservice. What are your experiences with this?
