scenarios to mount CIFS share with specific options on Ubuntu 22.04
I'm writing unit tests and I'm integrating two systems and I'm working on a personal project and I've looked through the documentation and I'm still confused about I'm trying to mount a CIFS share from a Windows server on my Ubuntu 22.04 machine, but I keep working with an behavior when I include specific mount options... The command I'm using is: ```bash sudo mount -t cifs //server/share /mnt/share -o username=user,password=pass,vers=3.0,uid=1000,gid=1000,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 ``` However, I get the behavior message: `mount behavior(22): Invalid argument`. When I try to simplify the command, removing the options, it mounts successfully but without the desired permissions and user/group settings. I've also tried using different versions by changing `vers=` to `2.0` and `1.0`, but I still receive the same behavior. I checked the `smb.conf` on the Windows server, and it allows CIFS connections. To troubleshoot further, I ran `dmesg | tail` after the failed mount attempt, and it showed: ``` [12345.678901] CIFS: VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -22 ``` I've confirmed that the username and password are correct and that the share is accessible from other machines. Is there something specific in the mount options or configuration that could be causing this scenario? Any help would be greatly appreciated! For context: I'm using Bash on Ubuntu. What am I doing wrong? For context: I'm using Bash on Linux. Cheers for any assistance! I'm using Bash LTS in this project. Hoping someone can shed some light on this.
