SQL Server 2019: scenarios During Bulk Insert with Format File Not Recognized
Hey everyone, I'm running into an issue that's driving me crazy. I'm stuck trying to I've looked through the documentation and I'm still confused about I'm working with an scenario when trying to perform a bulk insert operation using a format file in SQL Server 2019. The command I'm using is as follows: ```sql BULK INSERT MyTable FROM 'C:\data\mydata.txt' WITH ( DATAFILETYPE = 'char', FORMATFILE = 'C:\data\myFormatFile.xml' ); ``` However, I receive the following behavior message: ``` Msg 4861, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 want to bulk load because the file "C:\data\myFormatFile.xml" could not be opened. Operating system behavior code 2(The system want to find the file specified.). ``` I've verified that the path is correct and that the file exists. Additionally, I've tried running SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) as an administrator, and I've ensured that the SQL Server service account has permission to access that directory. I also checked the format of the XML file, and it looks correct based on the documentation. It seems to be a valid format file, as I can open it without any issues. I additionally tested a basic bulk insert command without a format file, which worked fine, indicating that the server is functioning properly. Hereβs the command I used: ```sql BULK INSERT MyTable FROM 'C:\data\mydata.txt' WITH (DATAFILETYPE = 'char'); ``` This command executes without any errors. I'm not sure what else to check or how to diagnose this scenario further. Has anyone else encountered this specific question with bulk inserts using a format file in SQL Server 2019? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. For context: I'm using Sql on Linux. Am I missing something obvious? This is happening in both development and production on macOS. Could this be a known issue? For context: I'm using Sql on Windows 11.
